Historic Letter
This letter is written by Martin Burke, a Confederate Colonel, to his lover Kathleen. He tells his family to remember him for the good things he did, not for bad. He also saids thank you and goodbye to many of his relatives because he knows he is about to be hanged. This letter also tells of how he died while holding the beads from Kathleen, and how much he loves her.
Historic Art
This artwork by Rick Reeves shows one of the many bloody battles of the American civil war, and shows the uniforms, gear, and weaponry of the soldiers during that time. I chose this artwork because it shows the real battles and the fighting style used by the different sides. It also shows the terror felt by the soldiers as their fellow Americans (sometimes even brothers) shot at one another.
